Set in Morocco, the first story follows a married couple desperately trying to mend their troubled relationship while on vacation. Simultaneously, a Moroccan herder purchases a rifle to protect his herd from jackals.

She navigates the challenges of modern life in Tokyo while also contending with her own self-consciousness and disability.
On the opposite side of the world, the couple's Mexican nanny takes their children with her to her son's wedding in Mexico. However, their return journey takes a perilous turn, leading to unforeseen troubles.
