Details
Burning Man is a heartfelt drama that follows Tom Keaton, an executive chef and restaurateur, as he copes with the loss of his wife, Sarah, who recently passed away after battling cancer. Tom is left to raise their eight-year-old son, Oscar, on his own, but he struggles to navigate his grief and emotions. The couple's marriage was strained not only because of Sarah's illness but also due to their differing opinions on treatment. Tom handles his grief in destructive ways, engaging in reckless behavior and seeking solace in casual sexual encounters.
Sarah's sister, Karen, feels the need to take on a responsible role, especially as Oscar often becomes a casualty of Tom's actions. Despite the turmoil, many of their friends and colleagues try to support Tom through this difficult time, including Miriam, a therapist who becomes a trusted confidante. However, Tom's reckless behavior and inability to confront his grief may lead to further disaster for him and his son.
Burning Man is a poignant exploration of loss, grief, and the challenges of moving forward after a devastating loss. The film delves into the complexities of relationships and the ways in which individuals cope with their emotions. Through Tom's journey, viewers are taken on a raw and emotional rollercoaster, discovering whether he can emerge from his grief and ensure his son's well-being.
