Details
Platoon is a gripping war drama set during the Vietnam War. The story follows Chris Taylor, a young and idealistic American who enlists in the army to fight in Vietnam. Upon arriving in the war-torn country, Chris quickly realizes that his presence is seen as inconsequential by the other soldiers. He has not experienced the horrors of combat as they have, making him an outsider among his peers.
Chris finds himself caught between two non-commissioned officers who have contrasting personalities. Staff Sergeant Robert Barnes is tough and seemingly indestructible, while Sergeant Elias Grodin is more approachable and cooperative. Tensions arise within the platoon when an illegal killing takes place during a village raid, further dividing the men.
As the war progresses, Chris is pushed to his emotional limits and is faced with the brutal reality of combat. He begins to question his own sanity as he struggles for survival and witnesses the conflicts both with the enemy and among the men in his platoon.
