As the hustle and bustle of city life comes to a close, the public spaces transform into a different world after closing time in the documentary film Städarna (2021). Places like libraries and museums that were once teeming with people are now eerily empty, awaiting the arrival of the next day's visitors. It is during these quiet moments, before or after the crowds have left, that the cleaners step in to do their essential work.
Director Hanna Nordenswan provides a glimpse into the lives of some of these unsung heroes - Stoyan, Adiza, Premkumar, Hansa, Daniel, and Kesaventhiran. Through intimate interviews, they share their thoughts, dreams, and the daily challenges they face while carrying out their cleaning duties.
Städarna sheds light on the often overlooked individuals who ensure that public spaces remain clean and inviting for everyone. Join these hardworking cleaners on their journey as they reveal the hidden stories behind the scenes of our cities in this insightful and thought-provoking documentary.
