Set in present-day Europe, the film explores the complex themes of identity, freedom, and the commodification of human beings. Sam's choice to sell his skin is portrayed as a desperate attempt to gain asylum, support his family, and have a chance at a better life. However, as the consequences of his decision slowly unravel, he begins to question if the price he paid was worth it.
